The Parable of Spouses and Garments

Bismillah

Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) uses amazing parables in the Qur’an that strike fear, awe and amazement in the hearts of the believers. Throughout the Qur’an, Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) draws parables for us to convey the importance of certain topics, to extract lessons from them and so that we may ponder and reflect over them. We hear many times of the examples of the hypocrites, the mushrikeen (pagans) and the believers. But there is one parable that Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) puts forth that increases the love and mercy between a husband and wife, and this parable is one of the most eloquent and striking in the Qur’an.

“Do You Not Love that Allah Should Forgive You?”

SubhanAllah, we all know the story about the accusations that were forged against ‘Aishah (رضالله عنها), but in addition to that story, the tafsir for Surat An-Nur (Surah 24), ayah 22, reveals another story–a story of forgiveness, a story of compassion, a story demonstrating the superiority of those who act for the sake of Allah (may Allah make us of them).

Mistah was the cousin of As-Siddiq (رضالله عنه). He was the son of Abu Bakr’s maternal aunt, and a poor man with no wealth except whatever Abu Bakr spent on him. He was one of those who had migrated for the sake of Allah, and he invented the lies and the slander against ‘Aishah (رضالله عنها).

Earth’s Fill in Gold

Bismillah.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) says in the Qur’an:

Translation: Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers – never would the [whole] capacity of the earth in gold be accepted from one of them if he would [seek to] ransom himself with it. For those there will be a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers. [Surah Al-Imran, verse 91]

What is a Museebah?

Bismillah.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) says in Surah Al-Baqarah:

Translation: And We shall surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. Those who when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we will return. [Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 155-156]

Rizq Without Measure

Bismillah.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) says:

Translation: Every time he entered Al-Mihrab to her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: “O Maryam (Mary)! From where have you got this?” She said, “This is from Allah. Verily, Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without measure.” At that time, Zakariya invoked his Lord, saying: “O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocations.” [Surah Al-e-Imran, verse 37-38]

Recipe for Being Worry-Free

Translation: Nay, but whoever submits his face (himself) to Allah and he is a Muhsin then his reward is with his Lord (Allah), on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. [Suratul Baqarah, verse 112]

1. Submit to Allah = fulfill the faraidh and abandon the haram

2. Be a Muhsin = do ibadah as if you see Allah, treat parents outstandingly, fulfill the rights of others outstandingly…basically, do good at every opportunity and whatever you do, try to be outstanding in it.

Al-Qahhar – The Subduer

Al Qahhar

The root word for ٱلۡقَهَّارُ is قَهر which is defined as:

  1. to compel something or someone against his/her wishes
  2. to subdue
  3. to overcome
  4. to force [1]

Thus, with regards to Allah (سبحانه وتعال), the noble name Al-Qahhar can be translated as “the Subduer, i.e. the Subduer of His creatures by His sovereign authority and power and the Disposer of them as He pleases, with and against their will.” [1]

A Necklace of Fire

In Surah Lahab, Allah says:

Translation: And his wife, the wood-carrier. Upon her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre).

Abu Lahab and his wife were some of the most severe opponents to the Prophet They fully understood his message and recognized him as a Prophet, and still they opposed him, until the end of their days.
